INVISALIGN® FAQ

  • What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is a series of clear, custom-made aligners designed to gradually move your teeth into their correct positions. At Brown Family Orthodontics, we offer Invisalign® as a comfortable and discreet alternative to traditional braces for both adults and teens.
  • How does Invisalign® work?

Invisalign® aligners are worn over your teeth and apply gentle pressure to gradually shift your teeth. You’ll switch to a new set of aligners every two weeks. At Brown Family Orthodontics, Dr. Ed or Dr. Jess will monitor your progress and make adjustments as needed to ensure optimal results.
  • Is Invisalign® effective?

Yes, Invisalign® is highly effective for treating a variety of orthodontic issues, including crowding, spacing, and bite problems. Our expert orthodontists will determine if Invisalign® is the best option for your specific needs during your complimentary consultation.
  • What are the benefits of Invisalign® over braces?

Invisalign® aligners are virtually invisible, removable, and more comfortable than traditional braces. You can eat, drink, brush, and floss without restrictions, making Invisalign® a popular choice for adults and teens.
  • How long does Invisalign® treatment take?

Treatment time with Invisalign® varies depending on the complexity of your case. On average, most patients at Brown Family Orthodontics complete their Invisalign® treatment in 12 to 18 months.
  • How often should I wear my Invisalign® aligners?

For best results, you should wear your Invisalign® aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, removing them only for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.
  • How much does Invisalign® cost?

The cost of Invisalign® depends on your specific treatment plan. At Brown Family Orthodontics, we offer flexible financing options and work with most insurance providers to help make Invisalign® affordable. We will provide a detailed cost estimate during your consultation.
  • Can teens get Invisalign®?

Yes! Invisalign® is a great option for teens. At Brown Family Orthodontics, we offer Invisalign® Teen, which includes aligners with compliance indicators to help ensure your teen is wearing them as directed.
  • Are Invisalign® aligners comfortable?

Yes, Invisalign® aligners are made from smooth, medical-grade plastic, making them much more comfortable than traditional metal braces. Patients at Brown Family Orthodontics find them easy to wear throughout the day.
  • How often will I need to visit the orthodontist during Invisalign® treatment?

Invisalign® requires fewer office visits than traditional braces. Most patients will need to visit Brown Family Orthodontics every 8 to 12 weeks for check-ups and to receive their next set of aligners.
  • What happens if I lose or damage an aligner?

If you lose or damage an aligner, contact Brown Family Orthodontics as soon as possible. We will guide you on whether to wear the previous aligner or move on to the next in the series while a replacement is ordered.
  • Can I eat and drink with my Invisalign® aligners in?

You should remove your Invisalign® aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water. This helps prevent staining and damage to the aligners. Be sure to brush your teeth before putting the aligners back in.
  • Will Invisalign® affect my speech?

Invisalign® aligners may cause a slight lisp during the first few days, but most patients quickly adjust and speak normally. At Brown Family Orthodontics, we find that patients adapt to Invisalign® aligners within a week.
  • How do I care for my Invisalign® aligners?

To keep your aligners clean, brush them daily with a soft toothbrush and cold water. Avoid using hot water, as it can warp the aligners. Dr. Ed and Dr. Jess will provide additional care tips during your treatment.
  • Is Invisalign® right for me?

Invisalign® is a great option for many patients, but it’s not ideal for everyone. During your complimentary consultation at Brown Family Orthodontics, Dr. Ed or Dr. Jess will evaluate your smile and determine if Invisalign® is the best treatment option for you.
